Free Booze, Dancing, and a Wedding

Here we are, we did it. After 9 years, Ryan & I were married in September.

Somehow we pulled off our wedding in under a year.

Props have to go to our wedding planner, Brianne Vertrees, because lord knows she and her team assembled everything and made it look stunning. She handled all the vendors for us. Honestly, she made the whole process easy and while I was still riddled with stress, I really shouldn’t have been. It’s just a part of who I am.

Some things I learned throughout this process:

  1. Drama will happen. Whether you want it to or not someone is going to disappoint you or let you down. This is a cynical way to look at things but after talking to other brides, it sounds like it is just a part of the process.
  2. It’s YOUR wedding. You do you. I wanted to wear an antler headdress. I wanted our officiant to declare us khal & khaleesi. We wanted Hunter S Thompson quotes wove into our ceremony. We made it our day, a unique day, and didn’t stick to tradition. Ultimately this is what everyone loved about our day.
  3. The Rehearsal Dinner is an excuse to buy that designer dress you’ve been eyeing (and you’ll have it forever!)
  4. No one cares about your napkins or silverware. Honestly. As we got down to the wire, I was annoyed with some of the expenses. $250 for cloth napkins? No one cares. Those burgundy paper napkins were just as good.
  5. It doesn’t matter how many people are at your wedding. We had just over a 100 people and it was amazing and intimate and the people that really mattered in our lives were there.
